Mostafa Kamal

Philanthropist and prominent industrial entrepreneur, Mr. Mostafa Kamal, son of late Al-Haj Noor Miah and late Al-Haj Ayesha Khatun, was born in a humble Muslim family in Chauddagram, Cumilla in the year of 1955. Mr. Mostafa Kamal has a younger brother & a younger sister. He is also the proud father of four; Tahmina Binthe Mostafa, Tanjima Binthe Mostafa and Tasnim Binthe Mostafa, his three daughters and Tanveer Ahmed Mostafa, his only son.

Early life and business career

After completing his bachelors in 1976, Mr. Mostafa Kamal started a commodity trading business under the name of “Kamal Trading Company” and achieved great success within a short period of time. The experience gathered in that exercise enabled him to pursue his dream as an entrepreneur.

Mr. Mostafa Kamal initially imported commodities from abroad on a limited scale and distributed them in the local markets. However, the cost and quality of these commodities were not up to the standard. In 1989, his endeavors for setting up industries started and he subsequently became a successful and leading industrial entrepreneur of Bangladesh through the establishment of Meghna Vegetable Oil Industries Ltd. Today, Meghna Group of Industries (MGI) is one of the fastest growing and leading business conglomerates of the country with 54 major industries of different categories. The group is a pioneer in the private sector for establishing economic zones in Bangladesh known as the "Meghna Economic Zone"(MEZ) , “Meghna Industrial Economic Zone” (MIEZ) and “Cumilla Economic Zone” (CEZ) respectively.
