International Interior Design Association Home Study Courses

These unique distance learning programs are designed to help you keep your interior design related knowledge and skills right up-to-the-minute and to do so in your own office or home, whenever you wish.

Each MGI home study course contains Skill Development Exercises that can be e-mailed, mailed, or faxed to your personal instructor/partner who is ready to process your exercises and answer any questions you may have.
Courses:
Achieving Success in Healthcare Facilities Design: This course will provide you with an introduction to healthcare facility design, a description of healthcare facility types, a medical vocabulary for the interior designer, building codes and standards, healing environments, planning the doctor's office, wayfinding in healthcare facilities, the use and importance of color in healthcare design, and specifying the right products for healthcare settings. The course also lists, by category, sources for healthcare products.

The Americans with Disabilities Act: Opportunities for the Design Professional: This course will provide you with the Americans with Disabilities Act Guidelines as well as the Access Improvements Costing workbook. You will learn the basic elements of the ADA, ADA design considerations, ADA Title I: the Employment Title and ADA Title II: public relations accomodations. It also includes other aspects of the ADA, as well as some practical examples.

Starting and Managing Your Own Successful Interior Design Practice: This course will teach you how to define your specific area of interior design. You will learn how to determine the services you will offer and the fees you will charge, how to interview a prospective client and prepare a letter of agreement, how to set up and maintain accurate financial records, how to prepare successful client estimates and proposals, how to organize for a smoothly running office, using computers in your design firm, and using sources of information and professional support services.

Successful Marketing for Interior Designers: This course will introduce you to marketing for the Interior Design professional. You will learn how to research your new markets, how to build valuable lists and generate effective leads, how to court prospective clients, how to make that critical go/no go proposal decision, succeeding at the presentation interview, achieving success with follow up marketing, and how to use public relations effectively.
