The MGI Management Institute, a division of SmartPros Ltd., designs, develops, and conducts distance education courses in a variety of professional topics for engineers, legal administrators, manufacturing, quality managers, health care professionals, and others. Since 1968, over 200,000 professionals have enrolled in MGI's courses, and eighteen professional societies, among them the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), and APICS, the Educational Society for (Manufacturing) Resource Management, have selected MGI to help fulfill their continuing education needs.

A special series of MGI courses prepares individuals to take professional licensure or certification examinations. Among these are the Professional Engineer (PE and FE) licensure exam, the Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) exam, the Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT) exam, the Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) exam and the Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM), among others.
